Airwork is quickly expanding across North America, but currently has jobs in the Greater Toronto Area and Greater Houston Area.
To join Airwork as a worker, you need to:
As an Airworker, you'll have the exclusive choice of a variety of roles across 8 industries:
One of the primary benefits of Airwork is that you're not locked in to any particular roles. You can and are encouraged to try out work in different industries and roles to find your strengths and interests.
We will also be continuously expanding the types of roles available.
Airworkers are legally considered Self-Employed Individuals (Canada) or Independent Contractors (USA), so you'll need to file your own taxes. However, we'll provide you with the tax documents necessary to file your income taxes, ie: T4As in Canada or 1099s in the US. For more information, please see the CRA's official guidelines for Canadian gig workers, or the IRS's official guidelines for American gig workers.
Airwork does not withhold taxes from your income, so you'll get the full amount owed per shift every payout. However, please ensure you save enough of your income to be able to pay off your income taxes in full during the tax season.
Airworkers are legally considered Self-Employed Individuals, which means you are not employed by Airwork, but rather are contracting your services to the employer via Airwork. For more information on this, please see the CRA's official guidelines on employment status in Canada.
You are allowed to cancel shifts with no penalties so long as you cancel more than 24 hours from the start of the shift. To cancel the shift through the app, navigate to the "My Shifts" screen, find the shift you want to cancel, and click "Cancel Booking".
You are not allowed to cancel shifts within 24 hours of the shift start time. If you cannot cancel a shift and still cannot make it, you will be considered a "no show".
If you are "no show" twice in one month (starting from the first of each month), your account will be suspended for 7 days.
If you are suspended twice within 2 consecutive months, your account will be banned from the Airwork platform.
Airwork considers clocking in 10 minutes or more after the shift start time a "late arrival".
For this reason, we highly recommend arriving 15 minutes prior to the shift start time to ensure you are able to find parking, walk to the correct area, find your supervisor, get set up, and start on time. Always assume things will take longer that you expect.
If you are more than 10 minutes late (ie: a "late arrival"), the employer has the option to dismiss you for the shift. If you are dismissed, you do not receive any pay.
Additionally, on the Airwork platform, 2 "late arrivals" is equivalent to 1 "no show". This means that 4 late shows or 1 no show + 2 late shows within one month (starting from the first of each month) triggers a 7 day suspension.
Airwork partners with Stripe to facilitate payments.
If you've successfully set up your payout information with Stripe when creating your account, you will be able to receive payments. If you bank with CIBC, Scotiabank, TD, or RBC, you will be eligible for Instant Payouts, which allows you to get paid within 30 minutes of completing a shift, even on weekends and holidays. If you do not bank with any of those 4, you will still be eligible for payouts, they will just take 3 business days.
For more information on Stripe Instant Payouts, see this documentation.
If there are any problems with receiving your pay, please contact us at hello@airwork.io or call us at +1 (647) 490-8081.
